At Pepperberry Florist, our passion lies in the simple joy that is in the giving and receiving of flowers. We believe that flowers should be accessible and obtainable to everyone and as such love to cater for all and for every occasion, no matter how big or small.
From small beginnings
Pepperberry Florist began its journey in 2011 as a retail florist inhabiting a humble corner of a busy central Christchurch cafe. In our tiny shop, packed to the rafters and overflowing with colourful blooms, potted plants, foliages and giftware, we astounded passers by with the volume of flowers that walked out of our door. Six years later, the time was right to spread our wings and we are now based from a purpose built studio located in the north-west of Christchurch (complete with cutting garden!).
Meet the florist
In what feels like many moons ago, I was formally trained at Christchurch Floristry School and after working for some local florists, itchy feet took me to Yokohama, Japan, where I had the great privilege of working under Dutch master florist and author, Edwin R. Molenaar - appointed designer for brands including Gucci, Versace and Star Jewellery. Before I knew it, at the tender age of 21 I was completely immersed in Japanese culture and Dutch / Japanese flower fusion whilst working long, hard and cold hours for high pressure clients. I have never learnt so much in my life and to this day I carry that soul defining year with me close to my heart.
Interested to see what else the floral world had in store for me, two years later I found myself in the north-west of England working in a boutique florist in Chester covering all aspects of floristry, including the famous "footballers weddings"! It was here that my ever remaining love of locally grown, romantic and abundant country-style blooms began! The Canterbury earthquake and the desire to be close to my family beckoned me home to Christchurch in 2011, where my dream of opening my own flower shop came true.
I feel privileged to work with such a beautiful medium everyday :)
